This notice supplements the TruckTA Privacy Policy. It explains TruckTA Drive location handling for drivers, company users, and Fleet Owners. If this notice conflicts with a shorter in-app explanation about location, this notice provides the additional detail.
TruckTA may make the app available in app-store storefronts worldwide. TruckTA Drive location collection is currently intended for United States driver operations.
1. Prominent disclosure
TruckTA collects precise location data to enable assigned-truck location sharing and Live Maps for authorized fleet operations, even when the app is closed or not in use.
After you review the in-app disclosure and grant the required operating-system permissions, collection may continue while you remain signed in, linked to an eligible Driver profile, assigned to a truck, and subject to an enabled company policy. Collection may occur while another app is open, the screen is off, or the truck is stopped or parked.
2. Information collected
- Precise latitude and longitude.
- Capture time, accuracy, altitude when available, speed, heading, and motion state.
- TruckTA device, installation, session, assignment, driver, truck, and company identifiers.
- Operating-system permission, app version, upload sequence, offline queue, and service-health information needed to operate and secure location sharing.
- Disclosure version, language, acceptance or decline, time, device ownership class, and policy version. Disclosure receipts do not contain coordinates.
3. Why location is used
- Show current assigned-truck location to authorized company operations users.
- Provide permitted recent history and route context.
- Support dispatch visibility, fleet coordination, security, diagnostics, offline recovery, and location-service reliability.
- Enforce company, driver, truck, device, assignment, and Fleet Owner access boundaries.
- Investigate misuse, security incidents, or a verified privacy request.
4. When collection starts
TruckTA does not start ordinary personal-device location collection unless all required product controls agree: the company setting is enabled; the user is authenticated and has one active linked Driver profile; a current truck assignment is confirmed; the installation is eligible; the current disclosure is accepted; and the operating system grants required precise foreground and background access.
Android displays a persistent foreground-service notification while the background service operates. iOS displays the location indicators controlled by iOS.
5. Company-required sharing and controls
A company may require location sharing as part of using its Driver workspace. The app does not provide a separate duty-status or casual on/off switch that could imply collection stopped when it did not.
You can decline before granting permission. You can also revoke location permission in device settings, sign out, remove or uninstall the app, or ask your company to remove the Driver link or truck assignment. Force-quitting or operating-system restrictions may interrupt service, but should not be treated as a reliable privacy control. The app shows a clear status when location permission or service needs attention.
Your company may disable its location policy. TruckTA may suspend location for security, privacy, legal, reliability, or support reasons. Removing authorization revokes active sessions and stops the server from accepting new location points.
6. Who may see location
- Authorized company staff whose current role and committed Live Map settings permit current location or history.
- A currently authorized Fleet Owner only within the driver's current fleet assignment and the customer's enabled portal policy. Current product policy limits Fleet Owner history to no more than 24 hours.
- Restricted TruckTA personnel and service providers only when needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, or comply with law.
- Other recipients only when directed by the controlling customer, authorized by the individual where required, or compelled by valid legal process.
7. Retention
Raw and derived location records are retained for no more than 30 days under the current product policy. TruckTA does not extend this period for analytics, advertising, or convenience. A legal hold or different retention period requires a separately authorized and documented exception where permitted by law.
Disclosure acknowledgments may be retained for the customer relationship plus three years. Closed privacy-request case metadata may be retained for three years. Neither record type contains or extends raw coordinate history.
8. Security
Location uses authenticated and revocable device sessions, encrypted transport, protected on-device offline queues, company and fleet authorization boundaries, service-only database access, short bounded API reads, and audit records. Realtime notifications contain only safe change hints; raw coordinates are retrieved through separate authorized location APIs and are not placed in general Loads events.
9. No advertising or sale
TruckTA does not sell precise location, use it for advertising, or share it for cross-app tracking. Location is not used to determine creditworthiness or provide emergency services.
10. Customer responsibility and local law
The customer company is responsible for complying with any workforce notice, consent, employment, contractor, collective-bargaining, BYOD, or monitoring requirements that apply to its operations. Operating-system permission is not a substitute for duties imposed directly on the company.
If you have a workplace concern, contact your company. TruckTA may pause a company's location access while a serious legal, security, or privacy issue is reviewed.
11. Requests and questions
You may request access, correction, or deletion through /privacy-requests. A request involving employer or carrier-controlled information may require coordination with that company. Do not send raw coordinates, device credentials, passwords, or private documents by ordinary email.
