01 · The checks

Every requirement, checked on its own card.

  • Nine checks, each on its own card: USDOT registration, USDOT operating flag, out-of-service order, operating authority, insurance filing, bond or trust, BOC-3 process agent, safety indicators and MCS-150 filing.
  • Every card is marked Pass, Fail, Review, Unknown or Not applicable, with the source it came from and how confident that source is.
  • The checks follow the role you expect: a motor carrier needs an active insurance filing, and a broker or freight forwarder needs a BMC-84 bond or BMC-85 trust.
  • Insurance and financial security filings list each BI&PD, cargo, bond or trust filing with its provider, coverage, form and dates.
  • Safety depth counts inspections, violations and crashes, with driver and vehicle out-of-service and fatal, injury and tow-away breakdowns.
02 · The result

Five results, in plain words.

  • Verified to operate: every check that applies to the role passed.
  • Review required: something needs a look, such as a missing BOC-3, or a motor carrier with no active insurance filing or an MCS-150 older than 24 months.
  • Not currently authorized: the authority the role needs is inactive, or, for a motor carrier, FMCSA's USDOT operating flag is No.
  • High risk—verify before dispatch: an active out-of-service order or a deficient BASIC, whatever the role.
  • Unable to determine: not enough official evidence yet, such as a new carrier with no inspections.
03 · Your company

Keep your own FMCSA details straight.

  • Company Profile shows your company's FMCSA summary with the same checks, facts and filings, from the last report loaded and when it was checked.
  • Refresh official data (Load official data the first time) compares FMCSA's record with your profile. Apply selected fields updates only the rows you tick: legal name, DBA, DOT and MC numbers, address and phone.
  • If your profile has a USDOT number, a daily job re-checks your FMCSA record and sends Owners, Admins and Managers an in-app notification when a new problem appears, such as authority going inactive, an out-of-service order or a missing insurance filing.
  • Nothing on your profile changes until someone with permission applies it.

04 · Brokers you book from

A broker's status follows them onto the load.

  • On a broker or customer contact, Verify with FMCSA replaces the contact name with FMCSA's legal name, updates the USDOT, MC, phone and address, and shows whether they're allowed to operate.
  • Saved active broker and customer contacts with a USDOT number are re-checked by a daily job, and the broker list shows each one's FMCSA status: Active, Warning, Critical or Unknown.
  • When a load's broker turns Critical or Warning, or its name doesn't match FMCSA, the load shows an FMCSA broker warning.
  • With TruckTA AI on, anyone with Run FMCSA lookups can have Ask TruckTA look up a USDOT or MC number right in the chat, read-only.
